Image Generators – Fun right? You can spend days having fun with the millions of image generators out there. There are so many options. You can even create a barcode to link to Bob’s Blog! Go ahead and give it a scan with your barcode scanner or smartphone.

Bob’s image generator of choice is Photoshop. I know Photoshop isn’t exactly an image generator, but it provides the same results with a lot more work. As mentioned earlier, Bob has a thing for doing things himself from scratch. It helps him understand how exactly something happened.  You know the wonderful questions kids ask all the time… WHY or HOW? Bob is still a kid and needs those questions answered as well.

So go ahead and have fun manipulating images! If you get bored with that you could always learn Photoshop or Gimp. Gimp is very similar to Photoshop, but open source so it’s FREE!

Eleven Thing

Flickr Fun - Bob tried out color pickr and thought it was an interesting tool to kill some time with. Actually, color pickr is very similar to a tool Bob uses on his DROID called Google Goggles. Instead of finding pictures with similar colors, Google Goggles does a web search based on what you scan with your phone camera.  That’s even more fun, but that’s right we moved on from The World of Google!

Flickr - Yep, Bob has an account but doesn't use it. Why not? Well, Flickr is fine and all, but good ole Bob prefers a tad more control so Bob creates his own online photo album. Bob just prefers to do things himself even though Flickr offers a much easier way to accomplish it. Hey now, don't take it the wrong way, Flickr provides an awesome service and Bob recommends it to everyone along with pBase.

Since Bob does have a Flickr account but doesn't use it, he decided to go ahead and upload his first photo. Think you know where the photo was taken? If so let's hear it!

Nine Thing

The world of Google. Perhaps this should have been all of the "things." Google has tons of applications for you to choose from and, best of all, they are free of charge! So on to the list of Google apps Bob has used: Android,  Google Chrome, Desktop, Earth, iGoogle, Images, Maps, News, Navigation, Toolbar, Search, Blogger, Calendar, Docs, Gmail, Picasa, Reader, Talk, Voice, You Tube, and Mobile. Bob recommends that you try the following:

Google Chrome a web browser similar to Internet Explorer and Firefox. Best of all, if you are a mobile user, you can send links from your web browser on your computer directly to your smartphone. Bob absolutely loves this feature. It is called Chrome to Phone.

Google Voice a single phone number for all of your phones. Don't you just hate calling someone at home and they don't answer, so then you have to call their mobile phone?  Well Google voice can solve that problem! With Google Voice you get a new local phone number free of charge, then you can link mobile, home, and or work numbers to your Google Voice number. So when someone calls your Google Voice number it will ring your home, mobile, and or work phones at the same time. Oh yeah, the answer is NO! You cannot have Bob's Google Voice number.

As you can see Bob has tried a bunch of Google's free applications and for the most has enjoyed his experience with each.  Now it's your turn to go out enjoy the world of Google.

Eight Thing

#Bob is back for another #thing. Its eight thing this time and that thing is Twitter. Twitter and Bob are tight, super tight. If there is one social networking tool Bob really enjoys, it’s Twitter. As Bob stated before Twitter is short, to the point and Bob likes to keep things short and sweet. Wait so you want Bob’s Twitter id? Ah hell nah, not a chance! Bob prefers not to mix business with pleasure. Nice try though!

So how could the library better use twitter? Bob thinks the @StCharlesLib tweeters are doing one hell of a job tweeting and should continue their good work. Bob’s only advice would be to tweet more often.

Seven Thing

Well, it’s social networking time. Facebook, My Space, LinkedIn, Ning ... sites where nosey people can see what everyone they've ever known is up to. Good ole Bob just can’t get into most social networking sites…it’s just not his cup of tea. Bob doesn't like to put himself out there for the world to see.  Bob is much too private for that. The only social networking tool Bob uses is Twitter, but hey that is eight thing right! Moving on to eight thing please!

Five & Six Thing

Hello folks, Bob made it back to work just in time to talk some RSS. Bob has been using RSS off and on for a number of years now in a love/hate relationship.  Why a love/hate relationship you ask? Well Bob loves RSS because of its simplicity to access up to the minute updates from most of his favorite forums, blogs, and websites. So, why the hate right? Well Bob has a problem of subscribing to too many RSS feeds which makes browsing a bit more difficult. So the end result is to go back to the actual web page and abandon RSS reader again.

In case you are wondering what RSS readers Bob recommends: for mobile devices it has to be Viigo, this had been his favorite for quite some time.  Then Bob switched from Blackberry to Android so his new favorite is gReader, which is the mobile version of Google Reader. As far as web base readers it would have to be Google Reader since it syncs with gReader on his Droid. Oh yeah, and which sites does Bob subscribe to?  There are far too many to list but most of them are Disney, photography, sports or tech related.

Habit 7.5 again

Hello everyone, Bob checking in on his last night here in Clearwater.  Can you guess where Bob went today? You are not going to believe it! BOB WENT TO DISNEY WORLD! Come on now, you didn’t think Bob would go to Florida without making at least one trip Disney World, did you?  Bob hopes that all of you back at the library are equally as excited about what you did today!  Enjoy!

Hello again blogger world! It’s your good ole pal Bob. Bob just had to let everyone know how much he is enjoying these 7 habits, particularly habit 7.5 “Play”.  Bob has been doing a lot of research on playing and decided it was time to stop researching and start playing. So with that Bob is pleased to report he is blogging live from Clearwater Beach, Florida! That’s right folks Bob is playing on the beach! Bob hopes you enjoy a few photos he took just for you!

Blogging, while I can see why folks are enjoying this, it’s just not my cup of tea. I like to be short and to the point and twitter and photography are exactly that. That is why instead of a blog I created an online family album to share with family and friends.

Hmm... Online Identity… Yikes, I hate this! Well I hate for everyone to be able to find info about me, but I love to find info on you. J Interestingly enough, I do this often. I am always searching to see what new things I can learn about myself and luckily it’s nothing new.

I rarely use my real name anywhere online, ie Bob Roger. Whenever I create any online account I always use a pseudonym/username. The more often you use your real name, the more likely I am going to find out more about you! 

If you are interested in finding out more about yourself or others be sure to search multiple search engines as results will vary. If you would like to find out even more info, give a deep web search a try. Hey now, what is a deep web search? Well its more often call the invisible web, which basically searches parts of the web traditional search engine don’t. Go ahead give http://pipl.com a try. You may be surprised by what you find.

Two Thing

Hold up! Lifelong learning… You mean I should still be learning? No way, I stopped that a long time ago. Perhaps that is why my kids do not understand what NO and STOP mean; I haven’t learned a good enough way to teach them yet.

Moving on to a less serious note. Habit 6 “use technology to your advantage” and habit 7 ½ “Play” are the easiest for me.  To be honest, they are one in the same for me. If I am using technology then I am playing! I eat, sleep and oh yea there’s technology. I mean, it is what I do…

I would say habit 2 “accept responsibility for your own learning” is the most challenging for me. Sometimes when I’m not really interested in something I much prefer someone else to learn it for me. It is much easier that way, right? Luckily for me, I enjoy learning more about technology and getting paid to do what I enjoy isn’t too bad.

Hello there nosey folks. My name is Bob, Bob Roger. I am not much of a blogger so my blogs will be short and to the point. I much prefer to tweet because that is what birds do and oh yea it’s in 140 characters or less.
